Sherrod Brown: Special Interest Globe-Trotter

In an April 2006 article in the Toldeo Blade, a strategy memo from Sherrod Brown's primary opponent, Paul Hackett, called Brown a "globe-trotter at special interest expense" and a "part of the cesspool of Washington."  And guess what?  Paul Hackett was right!

Check out PoliticalMoneyLine's entry for Sherrod Brown's privately funded travel reports.  Since 2000. Brown took international trips to the Ukraine, Nicaragua, the Czech Republic, Russia, Finland, Taiwan, China, Haiti, Mexico, Italy and Ireland.  Domestically, Brown travelled to Florida, Deleware, Pennsylvannia, New York, Nevada, Maryland, California, and Hawaii.

Must be tough being a Congressman, eh?

Let's compare that to the privately funded trips taken by Mike DeWine.  DeWine took four trips, all to Ohio on behalf of fundraising efforts for a non-profit organization in Cleveland.

Sherrod Brown ranks 69th of 640 current or former congressmen in the number of privately funded trips accepted; Sen. Mike DeWine, ranked 445th.

GOP: A Day Late and a Dollar Short

Is it just me or is it a bit late to be looking in to this?  (AP via Breitbart)

A group of House Republicans called Wednesday for a congressional investigation into the improper handling of classified documents by President Clinton's national security adviser, Sandy Berger.

Berger admitted last year that he deliberately took classified documents out of the National Archives in 2003 and destroyed some of them at his office. He pleaded guilty in federal court to one charge of unauthorized removal and retention of classified material and was fined $50,000.

Ten lawmakers led by House Armed Services Chairman Duncan Hunter, R- Calif., and Judiciary Chairman James Sensenbrenner, R-Wis., released a letter calling for the House Government Reform Committee to investigate.

Yeah, yeah, yeah...the Justice Department asked for a delay in hearings until after an investigation.  But let's remember, folks, Sandy Burgler took classified documents so that the 9/11 Commission would not have the complete picture of Clinton White House (in)action.

That was a LONG time ago...

Democrats: "Nothing to See Here...Move Along"

AP News Alert: "LONDON (AP) British man pleads guilty to plotting to bomb financial landmarks in Washington, Newark, N.J., and New York."

See?  There is no terrorist threat.  It is all a figment of Darth Rove's imagination and a construction of his masters at HALLIBURTON!

Sherrod Brown's Record on Drugs

When Sherrod Brown was Secretary of State, his employees were investigated for having sold drugs to undercover agents. Brown applied pressure to end the investigation so as to not hurt his chances for re-election. An Ohio State Highway Patrol investigator confirmed that Brown wanted the investigation dropped.

What did Sherrod Brown do with the employee that was being investigated for selling drugs to an undercover agent? Sherrod Brown promoted him.

Two more employees were investigated for dealing drugs out of the office mailroom. One employee had to have her stomach pumped because she ate a brownie laced with marijuana.

What did Sherrod Brown do next? He hired a guy who was the subject of two drug investigations.

Ultimately, the county prosecutor concluded that nothing improper occured in Sherrod Brown's Secretary of State's office... Sherrod Brown went on to play at being a Congressman next...

Sherrod Brown has accepted a contribution from an organization dedicated to making marijuana legal for medicinal purposes and removing criminal penalties for marijuana usage.

Does this sound like the record of a guy who should be representing the Great State of Ohio in the United States Senate?

But don't take my word for it, swing by Weapons of Mass Discussion and see what Ohio's newspapers had to say...

What is Strickland's Position on Child Predators?

Get the facts over at Weapons of Mass Discussion...

FACT #1: Ted Strickland admits he employed a man on his congressional staff who was "found guilty" being arrested for publicly exposing himself to children.

FACT #2: Ted Strickland admits he was "unaware" of the man's background and, after being informed of the issue, admits he "perhaps" should have pursued it more aggressively.

FACT #3: Ted Strickland's Democratic primary opponent raised questions about Strickland's handling of the issue, suggesting he maintained a close affiliation with the man and should have been aware of his background.

FACT #4: Ted Strickland refused to vote with 355 House members to condemn a psychological study suggesting sexual relationships between adults and children might be positive for children. (HConRes 107, 7/12/99)

FACT #5: Ted Strickland has publicly stated on the campaign trail that he intends to help convicted felons, which would include child predators, get state government jobs.

Welcome to The WMD Program

I am pleased to welcome you to the show blog for The WMD Program which streams on Sunday nights from 7 until 9 PM (eastern) on Wide Awakes Radio.

The show is based on our cable access television show that was based on our blog, Weapons of Mass Discussion.  We did 19 episodesof the television show in 2004 in the run-up to the '04 Presidential election.  The blog has been around since 2003.

What will you hear on The WMD Program?

You will hear conservative and/or Republican views on a wide range of topics from current events and history to popular culture and the arts with everything in between.

Ohio is a battleground state and WMD is a member blog of the State of Ohio Blog Alliance, so you can expect we'll be covering the fight from our front row seats.

We're expecting to have some important guests on the show.  Experts in their fields who will provide insight into the myriad of topics we'll be exploring.

Lastly, we're not likely to take ourselves too seriously.  We're going to throw in some parodies and sarcasm from time to time.

Interested in advertising on The WMD Program?

Please email me.  We have two minutes per hour available for ads specifically running on the show and Wide Awakes has lots of slots open for advertising on the network as well.
